The Problem

UK competition law is complicated. We made it simple.

Businesses that want to run prize competitions — a powerful, underused marketing tool — face a maze of legal requirements, technical setup, and ongoing management. Most end up using generic tools that don't fit their brand, don't meet compliance requirements, or require a developer to touch.

Giveawayz exists to solve this: a platform where any UK business can launch a beautifully branded, legally compliant competition website — in minutes, without needing a developer or a lawyer.

The Challenge

Wearing every hat.

Building a B2B SaaS from zero means making product, design, and business decisions simultaneously — often under pressure, often alone. As founder, I had to think like a product manager, a UX designer, a front-end developer, and a business owner — sometimes all in the same hour.

The core UX challenge: competition management is inherently complex — eligibility rules, prize draws, winner selection, legal documentation — but the product had to feel effortless for a small business owner with no technical background. Simplicity without hiding the complexity.

What I Built

Strategy. Design. Code.

Product Strategy Mapped the complete B2B customer journey: from first sign-up through competition setup, launch, participant management, winner selection, and compliance export. Identified the highest-friction moments and designed deliberately around them.

UX Design Defined user flows, information architecture, and interaction patterns across the full platform — dashboard, competition builder, participant management, and the public-facing competition pages deployed to end audiences. Research-driven decisions at every layer.

UI Design & Front-End Build Designed and built the UI from the ground up. The same person who defined the interaction also wrote the code — which means faster iteration, tighter execution, and no gap between design intent and delivered product.

Every business gets its own branded competition site, generated from the platform — no developer needed. See a live example at crowncompetitions.giveawayz.io.

The Hard Parts

Multi-tenant from the ground up.

Every business runs on its own branded subdomain — like the example above — all on a single shared platform. That's a multi-tenant architecture: one codebase and one deployment, with each business's brand, data, and competitions cleanly isolated. Getting that foundation right early is what lets the platform onboard a new customer in minutes, rather than rebuilding for each one. It was as much a software-architecture problem as a design one.

Prize competitions sit in a genuinely tricky legal space — UK competition and gambling regulation, skill-based-draw requirements, prize mechanics, and the compliance documentation a business needs to run one lawfully. That all had to be understood in depth and then designed into the product, so a non-technical owner stays compliant by default. Layer secure payment-provider integration and checkout on top, and the compliance-and-payments plumbing becomes as much of the product as the interface.

End to end — business and product.

This was never just a UI project. As founder, product designer, and developer, I built the whole thing: the business model, the architecture, the compliance, the payment partnerships, the product, and the code. It's the clearest example of what I mean by taking something from idea to finished product — not a screen, a company.

Status

Giveawayz is live in beta — explore the platform at giveawayz.io. The core platform is designed, built, and in the hands of early customers, with onboarding being refined as real businesses come on board.

The goal: become the go-to platform for UK businesses running competitions — compliant, beautiful, and genuinely easy to use.
